Grand Master Roy Longton

Began his training in the martial arts in 1972 starting at Ferris State College in Big Rapids Michigan. There he trained in Tae Kwon Do Chung Do Kwon under instructor Mr. Jerry Midkiff.

After graduation in 1975 from Ferris, his training continued with Grand Master Dale Drouillard founder of the First American Tang soo Do system. Grand Master Dale Drouillard was the first American to receive his black belt from founder Grand Master Hwang Kee in Korea during the time he served in the military.

While studying Tang Soo Do, Grand Master Longton also trained under Sensi Takashi Kushida founder of the Aikido Yoshinkai Association of North America. Training in Aikido and Aiki-jujitsu. Training involved weapons, locking holds, throwing and breaking techniques.

Grand Master Longton expanded his training and education to include Tang Soo Do, Tae Kwon Do, Aikido and Hapkido thus forming American Tang Soo do Association in 1990. It has since evolved into the North American Tang Soo Do Association.

Grand Master Longton is also a member of the International Academy of the Martial Arts Association, Inc. Where he continues his training in the martial arts. With Grand Master Sun Hwan Chung founder. 9th degree licensed Grand Master Tae Kwon Do, Tang Soo Do, Hapkido, Moo Soo Do.

Grand Master Longton feels strongly about students competing in tournaments, this is the time when you learn to apply your skills to different competitors, build your self-confidence and meet a great family of new friends, all with the same goal of great sportsmanship and respect for one-another.
